For over twenty years, the Springfield Area Arts Council has partnered with Archer Bailey and Robbie’s Restaurant at 4 Old State Capitol Plaza South to present a weekly jazz and blues performance series. Held Friday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., attendees enjoy fine food, beverages, and great music. There is no cover charge. A 50/50 raffle is held with proceeds benefiting the programs of the Arts Council.
Jazz and blues musicians who wish to perform at this venue should contact the office via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Trio, quartet, and quintet acts are invited, and payment is on the following scale: trios receive $200, quartets receive $250, and quintets receive $300. Contracts are issued by the Arts Council with the approval of the owner of Robbie’s Restaurant. Due to the popularity of this venue among musicians and a desire to show a variety of talent, we’ve been asked to decline multiple performance requests by the same group.
Because of water damage to Robbie’s Restaurant from pipes broken when the roof of the building next door collapsed, no concerts will be held in June. Performers who were scheduled to perform will be placed on a list and may appear at a later date. Stay tuned to our website and check back on the calendar in July for more information.
