Community Arts Access FY 18 Grant Application Information

It is with pleasure that we announce that the program has been restored following notification from the Illinois Arts Council Agency that it would receive applications from local art service organizations in the state for community re-granting purposes for fiscal year 2018 (FY18).  These funds are awarded to Illinois by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and that master application was submitted in mid-August.  Given the late notification of restored funding that we received at the end of July, we amended the application opening and closing period to allow non-profit organizations in Sangamon and Menard counties a reasonable length of time to seek funding on an adjusted calendar.  For FY18 only, the grant period opens effective September 1, and grant requests must be received in our office either by hand delivery no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, or via U S mail with a postmark on that date.  Final awards are subject to the receipt of funds from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.  Projects may not begin until December 1, 2017, and they must be completed no later than July 31, 2018.  Any non-profit organization in either Sangamon or Menard counties that is in good standing with the Illinois Secretary of State is eligible and encouraged to apply.  The funding limit is $750.00 per organization, and in a typical year, twelve to fifteen awards are presented.  Applicants are invited to contact Arts Council Executive Director Jon Austin with any questions either by calling 217-753-3519 or by e-mailing him at director@springfieldartsco.org.  The Application Materials package is also available upon request as a Word document.
