ABOUT
Shakespeare in the Park is a free, family-friendly event that brings beloved Shakespeare classics to life in Enos Park with performances by the Starling Shakespeare Company, a migratory theatre company. Now in its second year, Shakespeare in the Park is brought to you by the Springfield Area Arts Council in partnership with Downtown Springfield, Inc. and Springfield Park District.
2025 SEASON
Join the Starling Shakespeare Company for two free performances of Comedy of Errors and Hamlet at Enos Park.
With only 5 actors, Starling’s shows are fast-placed, playful, and nimble interpretations of the Bard’s classic plays. And at only 90 minutes, they’re perfect for date night or an afternoon out with the family!

COMEDY OF ERRORS
Double the trouble, double the fun! Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors is a fast-paced romp full of mistaken identities, witty wordplay, laugh-out-loud confusion, and, in our production, puppets! When two sets of identical twins are unknowingly reunited in the same city, chaos and comedy ensue. Come see Starling Shakespeare Company take on this chaotic classic in their signature fast-paced, 5-actor style.

HAMLET
To be—at the show—or not to be, that is the question! Shakespeare’s Hamlet is the classic story of a family, and a kingdom, torn apart by political unrest, corruption, and grief. When the king of Denmark is killed under mysterious circumstances, Prince Hamlet is visited by a specter that accuses Hamlet’s uncle, the new king of Denmark, of foul play. Hamlet must then decide whether or not to trust the spirit, and his own suspicions, and avenge his father.
